Licences & Legislation

Among the responsibilities of the Icelandic Tourist Board are issuing licences for parties organizing and selling tours, monitoring of licence bound activities, and maintaining a register of operations subject to registration such as information centres and ADS registration for receiving tour groups from China. The Icelandic Tourist Board issues travel agency licences for the sale and organization of package travel and linked travel arrangements and licences for day tour providers that cover tours that are shorter than 24 hours and accommodation is not included.

The Icelandic Tourist Board also plays a role in developing the regulatory framework for tourism in Iceland by cooperating and consulting with legislators during the preparation of legislation and through general cooperation and interaction with other authorities.
