103 thousand departures of foreign passengers in October

The number of foreign passenger departures from the country via Keflavík Airport was around 103 thousand in October, according to figures from the Icelandic Tourist Board and Isavia. The numbers are similar to those in 2015.

Since the beginning of the year, about 548 thousand foreign passengers have departed Iceland, a 17.6% increase compared to the same period last year when the number of foreign passengers departing was about 467 thousand. Compared to 2019, the decrease is 68%.

Departures by nationalities 

In October, most departures were Americans, or around one-third (31.7%). The British came second, but their departures were about 10,200 or 9.9% of the total. Third were German departures, about 9.1% of the total, and fourth the Danes, about 5.3% of the total departures.

Thereafter came departures of Poles (5.2% of the total), Spaniards (4.3% of the total), Italians (4.3% of the total), French (3.6% of the total), Dutch (3.6% of the total), and Canadians (1, 9% of the total). In total, the departures of the ten largest nations were 79.5% of the total.
