The dirt road to Seljahjallagil is only accessible to super jeeps during the summertime. The trailhead is located at a designated parking area. The hike starts along an old road, passing the southernmost crater of Þrengsborgur. From there, the trail follows a dry riverbed leading into Seljahjallagil.
Visitors are advised to exercise caution and remain vigilant for potential rockfalls in and around Seljahjallagil.
