The starting point is in the middle of the valley at the Fagralundur sports area, and from there you can choose three walking options: take the western part (about 2.5 km) or the eastern part (about 4 km) or the whole valley. On the way there are interesting places such as Hermannskógur, Norræni vinalundurin, Álfaskógur and also the Tree Museum in Meltungu, which is in the easternmost part of the valley. You can walk around this area all year round and you only need to think about dressing according to the weather. Ice spikes may be needed at certain times in the winter. The abundance of vegetation is great and it is interesting to see the green shoots first in the spring, but no less the diverse colors that autumn brings. Bird life peaks in the summer and many species nest in the area. In fact, there is a variety of bird life in the valley all year round and it is nice to see the species of local birds that choose to spend the winter in the Fossvog valley.
