13% decrease in January

Departures of foreign passengers from Iceland via Keflavik airport were about 121 thousand in January, according to figures from the Icelandic Tourist Board, or about 18 thousand less than in January 2019. The decrease between years is 13%. This is the second year in a row that fewer passengers depart in January, compared to previous year.
If we look at individual markets the UK had the largest market share in January, or about 27%. The number of passengers from US decreased by 12% from previous year.
USA was the second largest market in January with 14,8% of all passengers. USA is also showing the most decrease of all markets in January or 39.4%.
China was the third largest market with about 13 thousand departures, showing growth of 25.7%.
