Foreign tourism service providers operating in Iceland

Foreign tourism service providers operating in Iceland

A new informational brochure has been released that outlines the requirements for foreign tourism operators who bring tour groups to Iceland without establishing a permanent business presence in the country. This project was developed by the Icelandic Tourist Board in collaboration with the Directorate of Labor and the Icelandic Transport Authority to clarify the regulations that apply to foreign tourism operators in Iceland.

Tourism Operators Outside of Iceland

The brochure covers the rules regarding licensing and the differences between operators from within or outside the EEA/EU region. It emphasizes that all operators bringing tour groups to Iceland are required to prepare a written safety plan for each type of tour.

Employees of Foreign Tourism Operators

It also details the regulations concerning the employees of foreign tourism companies in Iceland, including how their registration in Iceland must be handled, among other requirements.

Passenger Transport Licenses in Iceland

Finally, the brochure provides information about the rules governing passenger transport licenses in Iceland, depending on the size and type of vehicles used.

The information is available here on the web, and also in PDF format.
