The countries of the Baltic Sea Region are experiencing increases of their Tourism activity to a greater or lesser extent depending on many different factors. To name a few, there are the overall level (and pace of) development of their economies, how well they are equipped to handle Tourism, the efficiency of (regional) transportation infrastructures, the degree of public promotional support for Tourism and last, but not least, how governments regard the importance of Tourism compared to other sectors of their individual economies and what policies they adopt as a result in respect to its development. Some observations have been made in this context regarding 11 countries in the Baltic Sea Region: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland and Sweden and, in a number of respects, Russia. |
