| Lýsing | On 22. January 1988 the European Parliament adopted a Resolution on the "facilitation, promotion and funding of tourism". In this Resolution, Parliament put forward a series of specific proposals and drew attention to the overall importance of tourism to the European economy and to the need for a more active Community involvement. In Point 7 of its Resolution, Parliament proposed that 1990 be designated "European Year of the Traveller". In addition it was subsequently agreed to invite the EFTA countries to participate fully in the European Year of Tourism. The council of Europe also supported EYT. |
